Ports and Customs" issues around 2 million Security Passes during 2021

The Security Department, the security arm of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, revealed that it has issued about 2 million security passes for individuals and companies to enter the ports and free zones supervised by the Corporation in the Emirate of Dubai during 2021, in accordance with the approved controls and in line with local and international standards in order to ensure security, safety and stability in these areas, and about 17 million vehicles entered those areas. His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, explained that the Corporation’s Security Department is keen to implement a comprehensive and integrated security system that conforms to the best practices and approved global standards, by enhancing rapid response to emergencies, and following up communication and liaising with the relevant authorities, noting that these procedures are aimed at ensuring strict compliance with rules and regulations, and providing the highest levels of security and safety in the areas supervised by the corporation. Bin Sulayem confirmed that the “Tasreeh” system for issuing security passes ranked first in the list of services provided by the Security Department around the clock, which includes 28 services, as the number of security permits issued through the website reached about 2 million security permits. In the second place is the service of requesting consultancy services and the implementation of the security standards listed in the International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) Code, followed by Gates and Access Control services, then Security Training services, then Security Escort services for VIP delegations, and High Value/ Wide Cargo shipments. Bin Sulayem pointed out that the Corporation operates 22 gates distributed over 4 zones in the Emirate of Dubai, through which the control of the movement of entry and exit to and from the ports and free zones supervised by the Corporation is tightened, noting that these gates are reinforced by a specialized and qualified security staff that includes more than 120 security men working around the clock. In order to raise the highest levels of preparedness and readiness at the level of the business units of the Corporation, the Security Department of the Corporation conducted 7 drills in cooperation with stakeholders in this field, as the Security Department works to raise the level of security and keep pace with changes and developments in this vital sector in line with the local and global security system with the aim of ensuring safety of areas that fall under the supervision of the corporation.
