The Dubai Maritime City Authority has announced the Public Docking service (short stay anchorage) for all local and visiting boats and yachts within the waters of the Emirate of Dubai effective from this February, as part of its objectives to support and develop the maritime leisure sector in providing a distinguished experience for the pioneers of the berths of Dubai, as a leading global destination for maritime leisure activities, and one of the world's most developed and competitive maritime capitals. Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Dubai Maritime City Authority, said that after coordination with all clubs and berths, the service of visiting the berths will be allowed for all local and visiting boats and yachts in Dubai berths, pointing out that the DMCA encourages users and customers to enjoy the maritime leisure facilities through applying for Public Docking service at Dubai berths. Sheikh Saeed added that all local boats and yachts are now able to visit any berth in the emirate and enjoy the attached facilities within the buildings of those berths, stressing that all berths located in Dubai are able to provide a reserve berthing facility around their facilities and buildings, provided that users of marine entertainments, who are willing to use the Public Docking service at any of those facilities, should obtain an official permission from each berth, stressing the need for the visiting boats and yachts to comply with the rules and regulations of the facility. Sheikh Saeed indicated that as part of DMCA’ efforts endeavours to implement ambitious projects within the marine entertainment sector, the Authority also provides all mariners the opportunity to enjoy all marine leisure facilities at all berths, in cooperation and coordination with the pioneers of the maritime sector from the public and private sectors, in a step that comes to enhance Dubai's position and leadership on the global maritime map. Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum stressed that the Dubai Maritime City Authority is constantly keen on applying the legal and legislative frameworks that ensure the optimal regulation of maritime traffic in Dubai, and is constantly working on developing its work mechanisms to provide the best services that would create a renewable and secure maritime sector capable of meeting the requirements of economic development in Dubai, pointing out that the Authority seeks to set terms and regulations aimed at facilitating and upgrading the maritime leisure industry through more flexible procedures, as a major contributor to building a safe, integrated and sustainable maritime sector.
