Established under Law No. (4) of 2023, issued by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, the DPA is empowered to establish companies, invest in related activities, finance projects, and engage in the buying, selling, and leasing of properties to achieve its objectives. Additionally, it plays a significant role in organizing and managing specialized exhibitions and conferences in the field.

Key objectives of the Dubai Ports Authority include:

2. Organizing and developing the port sector in Dubai.
3. Supervising and inspecting all activities within ports and handling terminals.
4. Investigating incidents that occur within ports and handling terminals.
5. Developing and monitoring security plans within ports and handling terminals.
6. Supporting the movement of imports, exports, and re-exports.
7. Providing an attractive investment environment for global companies in the maritime shipping and logistics sector.
8. Encouraging investment in maritime industries and services.

The Dubai Ports Authority oversees key ports in Dubai, such as Jebel Ali Port, Port Rashid, and Al Hamriya Port, as well as Dubai Drydocks, focusing on the development of their infrastructure. The DPA is also responsible for setting strategic plans and public policies, creating and maintaining infrastructure, regulating security aspects of the ports, and promoting them both locally and internationally.
