PCFC recycles 115 kilograms of plastic in “One Root” initiative

As part of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation's (PCFC) efforts to promote sustainable development practices, the corporation participated in the "One Root, One Communi-Tree" (OROC) initiative, organized by the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), by recycling 115 kilograms of plastic water bottles. From her side, Hend Ahmad Shaker, Director of Strategy and Communication Department of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, stressed the Corporation's commitment to enhancing environmental work efforts in the country by adopting best practices for the safe disposal of plastic waste, through cooperation and integration with national institutions and initiatives that aim to preserving the environment and implementing sustainability standards. Hend explained that the corporation has participated in the " One Root, One Communi-Tree" initiative announced by the Emirates Environmental Group by collecting and recycling 115 kilograms of plastic water bottles within two weeks, and collecting them in designated recycling bins, to enhance the employee's culture about the mechanism of safe disposal of waste, expressing her pride of the initiative’s success and the response of the employees through their active participation. The Director of the Strategy and Communication Department indicated that, in exchange for recycling 115 kilograms of plastic, the Emirates Environmental Group planted a tree in the name of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation in honor of its participation in this initiative, which is an annual event to connect the tree planting campaign with waste management programs, praising the role of the group in mobilizing the community towards investing recyclable waste and increasing the sustainable green area in the United Arab Emirates.
