Dubai Maritime Authority launches a portfolio of initiatives during the Dubai International Boat Show 2023 to support and empower the maritime sector

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, was briefed on the portfolio of initiatives and technologies offered by the Dubai Maritime Authority at the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation for the benefit of investors and pioneers of the maritime sector in Dubai during the 29th edition of the Dubai International Boat Show 2023, in a way that provides a distinguished experience for residents and visitors who own boats and yachts, to enhance Dubai's position as a leading global destination for leisure activities and marine sports. The Authority reviewed its initiatives related to recreational marine crafts at its stand in the “Marine Luxury Lifestyle” pavilion at the DIBS, which will continue until March 5 in the “Dubai Harbour” area, in an effort to support and empower the maritime sector in Dubai, in light of the high number of visiting foreign yachts to Dubai’s waters by 156% compared to last year, in addition to an increase in the percentage of licenses issued for recreational marine vehicles by 37%. Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director of Dubai Maritime Authority, referred to a portfolio of qualitative initiatives that the authority's stand is reviewing during its participation in the exhibition in its new edition, on top of which is the innovation of new ways to carry out the mandatory technical inspection of the marine craft through reviewing the Smart Marine Crafts Inspection to facilitate procedures for the benefit of customers when licensing or renewing a marine craft license. Sheikh Saeed stated: “The Dubai Maritime Authority’s stand offers a number of initiatives at the Marine Luxury Lifestyle Pavilion to facilitate the customer’s journey, including allowing the registration or renewal of recreational crafts (jet ski) licenses for a period of one or two years, in addition to activating the self-inspection service for the means of marine pleasure (up to 12 meters) by uploading the required images electronically, as well as immediate renewal services for marine activities permits, marine craft registration and crew licensing through the smart digital platforms on the authority platform”. Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum explained that the platform also includes a review of the interactive Dubai Maritime Map, which allows identification of berthing areas, recreational activities, tourist places, and berthing areas for commercial ships, in addition to the restricted areas, adding that the contents of the map are updated periodically in order to ensure a distinguished experience for customers, residents and visitors, to enjoy recreational activities and marine sports.
